If you have a destination go-to selected - strafe in one direction as you thrust away. When a SNAC is fired quickly strafe in the opposite direction.
This gives you twice the effective strafe speed at the moment you dodge.
I also highly recommend Purple Goddess Turrets (Class 5). 6.67 refire rate, and a long range (770). They are also best used against graviton shields which are ever-so-popular!
1) Know your ship. It's fire arcs. It's armour. Damage per second it can inflict. How fast it turns. Everything.
2) Know your pirate's ship. Everything.
3) Use the chat list. It may be meta-gaming, but you will know when there are tagged pirates around.
4) SS everything. Not only will you have proof if anything funny goes on, but it allows you to remember non-tagged pirate names.
5) Know your route. Know alternative routes. You should be able to outmaneuver anyone in your path.
6) Thrust. Engine kill. Hit the thruster key every time the pirate tries to CD you. Fire backwards. Do not just rear view, depending on your ship. Maneuver your ship into the best position for it, but beware of CD's.
7) Wherever you are know where the closest neutral or friendly base is. Re-direct to it if needs be.
8) Call lawfuls in for backup if possible. Know where the closest lawful player is.
9) Just for those people who seem to spam somewhat pointless advice, escorts.
10) Convoy with other traders. (Win-lose thought pattern, you only need to outrun the person you convoy with, not the pirate.)
11) If about to be gang-raped by Pirate Transports and they have disrupted a lane around 2k away from you, drop your cargo and destroy it. (You lose the amount it cost to buy it, but annoying cargo pirates is win.)
12) Strafe to avoid SN's. (Use tactics as described in previous posts.)
Set your CM to a weapon group. Soon as you see a pirate, swap to your weapon group. But don't cruise when he's in front of you, that's garunteed to fail. Get a little distance before you try cruise. Having your CM active will keep firing CMs until whatever missile is chasing you drops off your tail.
Doesn't always work, I usually try run once and if the pirate catches me then I'll pay. But if you keep trying they'll get frustraited and blow you up.
' Wrote:That's not sanctionable, if you really want to apply the general PVP rules to piracy, then you also have to consider that the trader was fleeing first, since he docked with a TL.
Well I dont have tactics for fighting pirates or get away, as a matter of fact I like when i am pirated with good RP involved in it(doesnt means that I go out looking to be pirated but you get the point). However I do have a "tactic" to avoid pirates in lanes.
From time to time you meet a trader/player that does some RP too, undocking form the lane, and they say "Beware captain, pirates ahead" or "pirates on the tradelane" or whatever, so I cruise straight up about 16K from the lane and then continue with my route till I get to the next point(base, jumpgate, etc), that way I fly over the pirates without them even noticed, pirates seem very confused and even tell you every now and then that you are cheating for using cloak, server hacks or any other conspiracy artifacts :laugh::laugh:metagamers are all the same....
