If you really believed Igiss wanted this thread stopped, why are you adding to it?

And if you post again, please explain exactly how a gunboat is stronger than a liner in unmodded freelancer with half the turrets and a fraction of the armor.

This is... Was... a rule discussion topic. Not a liner discussion one. Also, it has been said that the it will not be done.
Remember that vanilla FL was designed with fighters in mind. That means that all ships, even battleships were made so they could be defeated by a fighter. That's why the gunboats were so weak, why two torps destroyed a BS, and thats why big ships didn't have shields nor the ability to regen shields.

The liner was made as a BS because there was no other cathegory to put it.
I remember the time when those were battleship-like, in 4.77. Everybody had one because they were uber and you could beat anything on it. Well, those times are behind us and are not going back. We are ijn the quest for balance. Making the liner a BS would ruin that balance.
