Yeah, this can be done.
Make a seperate copy of FL, and go and play on Eagle Utopia for a few hours, ask someone with a BS to demonstrate player dockable ships to you.
It is truly awesome.
What it does is, you type something when the carrier is selected, the carrier gets a notification, and then types something back, server then lets the small ship dock, and the player gets beamed - to a special base in the system (which means the mod team need to put that into the copy of discovery), when you want to launch again, it makes you reload your char, then you launch from the special base, and it local system beams you, so it looks like you came out of the carrier.
As I said, truly awesome:)

someone said why we need that if you can only dock and do nothing ... then said if he have bats bots then everyone would feed and battle wouldn't end ...

if you guys ever decide to make this work i say put there bots bats but limited i mean players can get free(or buy) batts and bots from Carrier and leave but then carrier would lose theirs ... carrier have let say 1000 bots i dock buy 100 and carrier have 900 bots that's what i mean ... ofc carrier have to approve that ... its not worse then feeding normally dropping them or trading ... but its more RP ... or if carrier get shoots fired on him automatically drop all ships from it to defend so ... and those ships cant dock carrier if he is moving ( in battle) ... if you want to dock ship ... he have to stop engines and enter code or what ever to allow ppl to dock and everyone is happy ... there wont be any unbalance ... ppl wouldn't be able to dock in battles ... if battle ends .. base far ... you ask carrier for some bots and dock:Dbuy leave ... (possibly without repair function)

it would be nice ... it would take time i guess but ... you have done it before as far as i figure out in topic it wouldn't be so hard like first time

naah... it's easier to set for these hidden bases that there is not a single thing to buy or repair. so by that way they could just wait in "docking hall" of carrier.

I personaly like this idea and I think that it would be nice to be main feature of next version of disco mod, just to solve this "player killed/kicked/gone off" problem
