I just (rightly) accused the monkeys of not belonging in Freelancer's RP, since they're only there as a (not particularly funny) joke anyways. I'd rather not see Discovery's RP become a (not particularly funny) joke.

Even Trent's humorous name for the Chancellor has been used to describe an entire Nomad caste.

Monkeys they may be, but they can be easily justified with some sensible RP.
And I have just that in my head, it would just take me a bit of time to write it.


Don't be quick to discount something just because you're a racist bigot and think monkeys are inherently funny.

However, if that is too much for the moderators to deal with, then... well, it doesn't look like many people are actually trying to RP them. Again, I do not know modding to the fullest extent that I should to give any advice, but just tumbling around a potential idea O-o

Also, Kemira, what you speak of is a case of Acceptable Break From Reality, mainly the faster-than-lightspeed, as breaks from reality are usually needed to make games fun for a vast majority of players.

Monkey people, in FREELANCER, are not an acceptable break from reality, as it was thrown in as a joke and not for major gameplay reasons. If it was a seriousl addition, then that would be something. It was not, however!
[Note: no, monkey people are not 'inherently funny' and the joke was more of a "Hah, look at those crazy devleopers" moment. If the devs of the storyline want to add a more realistically made new race then fine, but I doubt they would be a ruling force in FL and who knows what cultural differences from humans that would exist!

I don't think that would be any easier than capturing whole crews with important ranks and designations and using them instead or some such... though i'm not an expert on Nomads, so I can't say for sure T-T

In scientific rp we could say that the radiation in Omicron Kappa have produce mutation in the Zoner expedition crew offspring, making them look like chimps. If the cardi can modify DNA radiation too, and the humans share a lot of the genetic code with monkeys, if you are going to mutate in an animal must be some kind of chip its a question of probabilities. (look to a chimp fetus, its looks like a human fetus).
