The Order LAC is half the size of the liberty carrier. The Order LAC uses all cruiser guns. It still sucks the big one against bombers and fighters.

Giving it gunboat weaponry would be even worse. You think solaris turrets on cruisers are useless right now, imagine guns with even less speed and range.

You really need to calm down. I'm making observations based on my own information and commenting on them as I see fit. There is no need to insult me.

Perhaps solaris should be given a buff then? They don't seem to do much good unless someone is stupid enough to wander within range... Maybe put them at arms length with SNAC range, and ramp up the power output so spamming it would be unhealthy.

Just idiots sharing opinions here by your standard, stay out if this is too toned down for yourself, Mmkay?

The solaris got nerfed.....thats why they suck now.Go back to 4.83 and 4.84 and compair the stats and you will see.

This topic comes up every couple of months, and it's always the same thing. "Nerf carriers, they should be using fighters/bombers and not guns!" vs "Guess what, we dont have fighters and bombers all the time, stfu"

Honestly, it's extremely frustrating to have to come in here and defend my ship from nerfs every time someone comes along with an unoriginal idea and wants to change things. Dont fix what isnt broken.


Name aside, the carriers in this game are all properly balanced. The Order LAC is balanced as a heavy battlecruiser - below battleships but above the other BC's. The Liberty Carrier is balanced as a heavy battleship. The Zoner/IMG Carrier is balanced as a Light Battleship.

These ships are -fine-, they've been tried and tested, stop trying to change them.

When you can come to me with an argument other than "But it's called a carrier!" as to why these ships should be changed, then I'll consider your point of view. But until then you're trying to use nothing more than a word to justify destroying three perfectly good ships on the server.

I see.l Boss uses missiles and secondary's on his Carrier, how well does that serve for you Boss?

Probably not well considering he said he didnt even have an armor upgrade =P

But hey, if he finds it fun to use that setup, I see no problem with it. I've gone through dozens of weapon setups on my carrier, probably spent almost as much on guns as I did on the ship itself just trying to find something I like. Right now I just use 16 primaries and 2 light mortars - not ideal for taking out other caps, but it's a fairly good all-around setup.

Not all ideas are for the worst. Inability to accept others ideas is a big reason why a lot of ideas will fail in the world.

I'm not asking for WTF nerfs or buffs, I just want to see some new things. Keep your Carrier the same, fine, don't mess with those, new ships could be requested to try and make other ideas for carriers work, beyond that of the normal capital ship.

I share ShadowJman's Carrier, it uses 4 Pulses 2 Mortars, with 4 solaris' and the rest primaries. He put the Solari, don't know why.

But that's the thing, it isnt going to work until game mechanics permit carriers from filling their true role without needing two dozen players around to help them. Like I said, when I can launch a swarm of NPC fighters and bombers to deal with my enemies, that's the day you can take my guns away, and even then those npc's would have to be on par with most guard system npc's to be worth anything in combat against other players.

Numerous arguments have been made against that though, ranging from "it will cause extra server lag" to "it's too difficult to add" to "It will make them overpowered", so chances are that kind of change is not happening any time soon, and neither is a rebalance of carriers based on nothing but the fact that they're called carriers.

What you're looking for is a repair ship, as far as I'm concerned. We already have one of those, good luck flying it.

Depends on the enemy. I can't beat a battleship. I can't beat a BC either, unless I get a 4k drop on him. (Hai, Dreygon)

I can take out GBs and cruisers pretty well, bombers are tricky though.
