Once again, its the whole, divided we are weak, united we are strong. And it's up to each faction as to where they go, as long as they maintain their home base. Yes, the idea lost some steam when Cross left, but its still there and still ebing discussed

I understand the divided vs united stance. That makes perfect sense.

The purpose of the ZA was that these organizations would come together at a table and discuss matters that affected them all, while still maintaining individual sovereignty.
Is not the reality though. The Zoner factions seem to act as one, just about always. The other day there were TAZ, (]c[), ZDF, etc, etc, etc all sitting at the FP in Delta playing the power game. I have no idea who that FP actually belongs to, but it was the indies running the show in that instance. The tag on the name seems to make no difference what-so-ever. All are Zoners and all do what they will as one united group. There is not much of any individuality that I've seen.
Some are those guys on the receiving end of fire hoses and riot shields.
Unfortunately, the Zoners are the only group in Disco who the community do not want to evolve whatsoever. A miserable truth. It has somehow become culturally ingrained into this community that,
A: Zoner = power trader
B: Zoner = sucky RP
C: Zoner = individual
A faction on every Freeport, and a Freeport for every faction.
And each of these groups mind their own business, their own economics, and maintain a set of allegiances and diplomacy that fit their location.
In other words, Freeport 9 would favor the Corsairs.
Freeport 10 would favor the Outcasts/IMG
Freeport 2 would deal between Rhienland and Liberty
Freeport...you get the idea.

Things cant exactly follow the utmost of logic all the time, you know. If we go by that line of thought, over the centuries the population of each Freeport would have been absorbed into the groups that they support. Small, fractured factions rarely survive for a reason.

That's exactly correct, but that usually takes generations. Sometimes many generations depending on how strong the original culture was.
Well, I believe that the Zoner Council would have to decide whether all Zoners went to war. I see all Freeports as sort of a network which shares information, but I see the independent Zoners (without faction tags) as just being a Zoner to survive or to live a peaceful life.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3

Zoners can't be so unified and those that want to break free (lol) should be able to do that. If you feel like Zoners should be separated and weave the politics based on the place they are located in - why don't you do it?
Start a zoner faction, base it on some freeport that's remotely out of the way (basically not Doc's or Mal's havens, or Mudds huge ship parking spot), and start to cooperate with the factions near you.
Want a freeport? Freeport 5. Freeport 1.
Go collaborate with those Xenos, Corsairs and lawful forces or whatever. Start tailoring the politics and make sure they realize you're important. Who cares if there's a council of Zoners, they won't annex you (is annex the word here?) for actually doing a Zoner job. Everyone will know that your opinion counts only in systems your ZoI is (and your ZoI shouldn't extend over 9000)
Basically I was pretty much hypocritical (OMG WTF101) before when I insisted that Zoners are not unified but individual and free, because it's pretty much dumb to demand from people to be free to chose to do what they want. Paradox, right?
So if you feel like Zoners should be different on every freeport, start roleplaying one.
