Sorry about that Korrd, It was too late in the night for my little pea brain ....
Seriously, I remeber playing AOE in multipler on a 28k connection, and for the most part it did ok, we would get lag for various reasons. One reason as more and more characters, (villagers, soldiers, etc), were created it took more and more time to transmit the information.
My question with freelancer when in multiplayer; (if the information that is transmitted to the player would mostly pertain to that system that player is in), would it be better for the player with dial-up to be in less populated systems for better performance?

I dunno bout that one, as I said, the old server I used to play on had a max capacity of 20-25 players, and sometimes was full so I couldnt get in. He never experienced lag, and he was still able to fight and such.
Personally, unless the server limit is maxed out and theres 75 players on, I dont think using Dial-Up while playing FL is a problem. I'm gonna try it on my A**-kicked laptop ans see if I cant get it runnin with little lag.
i used dial up when i was using version 472, obviously a lot has changed since then, but I wouldnt see a problem as long as he makes sure as much is getting to freelancer, ie, dont download stuff suring game play, dont have web pages open etc etc.
I mean I know what it all means, but do you go on the internet and look for it or do you just know it?

I've been mildly miffed by one-shot weapons since their implementation, oh so long ago. I remember the days when fights were a matter of who could aim better, rather than who could aim a single shot. - Virus
It's something I know, because I know about sats. I got the exact distances from inet, instead of using 300k for light speed and 36k for the GEO orbit because I wanted a more precise number as a result.
