I've looked into transfers via IBAN to my bank account. Although this is possible there is 10 euro (approximately) charge on the transfer and so this isn't really a good idea for small amounts.

We prefer paypal because it seems to work for most people and you don't need to sign up to use it. You can donate using a credit card directly into our paypal account.

If you don't want to use paypal then a great alternative way for small sums is to send cash via post. PM me for a postal address. Besides receiving letters from people is so rare now that it almost fun.

For large sums of cash...we will find a way if this problem happens (we would probably use interbank transfer and just accept the charges).

Any donations people make will eventually show up in the donations list - although majkp is rather busy and this takes a while to happen.

On a related subject, I'll explain how we deal with the game server charges.

The server is rented in Germany at http://www.hetzner.de. I pay for this from my credit card on the first of each month and this costs about 95 euro.

Sometime after the 1st of the month I send the bill to majkp. Majkp transfers money from the discovery paypal account to my own which then I transfer back to my bank.

Because I'm not a European resident, we don't pay VAT and so the server is 19% cheaper but due to currency conversion charges and other fees the whole thing works out to about 5% cheaper than the standard price.

It costs us approximately 1100 euros per year to operate the server. Donations are important to keep this place running. If the number of players drop or I ever find time to finish the server split we would be able to switch to a significantly cheaper server.

The forum server is different. This is operated from A&L's house on a 100 mbit fibre link. We've tried a number of alternatives including VPS and shared hosts and have found that the forum needs a dedicated server to handle the number of people we have visiting. We use the old game server and A&L covers the entire fibre rental cost.

I rent counter-strike server in my country. there is an option, that players can send money directly to the server operator in the favor of our cs server. this way I don't have to involve into this my own credit card or bank account.

Donated 50$

Could be that your card are blocked for international transactions... so paypal dont let it go.. i linked pay-pal direct to my bank account and dont have that kind of problem anymore.

That's remind me that is a time for next donation.. 7th or 8th of October after my Paycheck:)

I updated the list of incoming donations, thanks a lot guys for your help!

I've been looking into the IBAN transfers and unfortunately Matt was right. Transfers to my account from EU costs about 8EUR, international transfers cost incredible 1% of the amount while the minimal fee is ~20EUR.

So unless there is no other option, feel free to use this IBAN Account:
CZ8455000000000340623001

But please always send me an e-mail to discoveryserver@gmail.com because I don't check that account regularly. Well not that I check the Paypal account regularly as well, but you know...:-)

I'll update the post with donation info...
