If the NPC's are easy to get rid of in a mission (which they are, most of the time) instead of increasing the number of NPC ships why not have them use armour upgrades? (don't know if this is workable, but it's worth a look isn't it?)

Also Igiss, I have seen lately, with two or more players that fly together, when there is an NPC encounter, the server seems to lag, sometimes worse then others

The apparent lag issues and server crashes might easily be tied to the server hardware/OS itself. I cannot be 100% sure on this tho.

I have some new hardware coming in, and we can test the server on it for about 120 Days before I either take it down or install a full version copy of the server on it. We can then test the lag theory out.

the new server has 2G of RAM and is a dual PIII 800 (or so i'm told) with 300GB of Drive Space.. plenty for me to do what I had intended with it.

As for the rest of the solutions.. Nomad Factions. I don't want that. They're good targets to practice with :-)

Order: I'm all for it. spices the game up a bit..

Refire rates: Lets see how the server does first, see if the lag disappears with more powerful hardware.

Can we increase the NPC skill?
The house systems NPC should remain the same, but the NPC on the border worlds could have their skill increased a bit. Their skills are.... rather pathetic....

Isn't the NPC skill just a function of their equipment, that is a lvl 4 NPC flies the same as a lvl 15 just that the lvl 15 has better ship. :unsure:

Nope.
Compare a rogue in NY against an outcast in Malta.. The outcast is better, not only on ship/equipment, but also more skilled.

You're right, I remember the outcasts in NY being more skilled then similar lvl rogues.

So you should be able to increase the NPC skills. :cool:

I noticed when I first started playing the game that in Dublin 3 Corsairs beat about 12 mollys. It was quite fascinating... only one Corsair even got hurt. And the borderworld Corsairs and Outcasts are supposed to be twice as skilled as the ones in Dublin and other systems. They are more like 1.3 times better, just with better ships.

What about ships(fighters and battleship) from Battlestar Galactica TV series?

Fighters are already downloadable but I can't find the Galactica (Battleship) anywhere... However, Tekagi's Treasure mod seems to have him!

What i like about this mod is that it kinda stays freelancer... there is a few homworld ships but they could easy pass off as Freelancer ( i only played HW 1 forabout an hour). I like mods that try to stay with Freelancer Style Shi[s (eg Last Hope mod has only one non FL type ships)
