We tried that. Remember back to the 470s? One Mortar up the engine could kill an Osiris. ONE. The Mortar/Nova was switched from explosive to energy for a reason. That's it.
And Treewyrm, I don't think it's elitist. I suck in a fighter, in fact I suck in almost everything but my Destroyer and my Battleship, but I still don't get killed by bombers.

Blunt the point is, no way in hell should a bomber DOGFIGHT... and also, the Taiidan bomber turns like a normal fighter making it hard to dodge. And getting on it's tail doesn't work very well because of that. The only way to bring it down is to go head on. And because of that tactic getting behind someone is VERY VERY hard. Even in an LF. I have fought in so many battles against bombers it isn't funny... I have only ever lost to a few. And it is not me I am talking about here. It is all normal sense in the universe.
I mean throughout history have bombers knocked out fighters with TORPEDOS? NO, because torps are ANTI capital ship weapons. This has nothing to do with "Well you must suck if you cannot get away" it is "This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever." You're not getting me here man. I have never been nova rammed successfully... but others have and as I said, bombers should rely on numbers and turrets to knock out fighters. Not their torpedoes that kill in one hit and are infinite... it is a matter of... it should not be this way. It just shouldn't skill or otherwise. I don't care bombers should not take out fighters with torpedoes.
That is why i think bombers should use BOMBS... but I understand why they can't caps are too small to hit properly. But that is another issue....
Still, the torp should not be able to do that. I mean look at the battle today, Skyrim destroyed three people and only one of them was after him, he sniped em. And that Raven's Talon was very hard to hit.
But listen, is their any sense behind torpedoes being used as anti fighter weapons? I mean throughout history torps were too precious to use against fighters in the first place as knocking out caps was priority. Which is why the nova needs to be nerfed or changed in some manner...
Just SLOOOOW it down to 100 mps. The bomber will have to get in closer, making it slightly harder to kill the capship and impossible to kill the fighters. And, since you have to get in close, it's more like a true-blue bomb anyway, which is what you've been moaning for, yes, Tankypoo?

2 Bombers can take on a capital and likely win (provided they can dodge), a single bomber can take on a cap if configured with all shield remover guns and dual novas. Otherwise tends to be a draw with the bomber dodging and the capship recharging.
But...
the same all shield buster and novas setup is also very successful against fighters. As it stands the setup can kill a heavy fighter with full lvl 8 armor in one pass. How to fix?:unsure:
Brainstorming Ideas:
Splash damage.
Good - forces the bomber to use the weapon from a distance otherwise can nuke himself.
Bad - spash does different amounts of damage (Vanilla and non-vanilla).
Make shield busters same speed as nova.
Good - Can't take a fighter out in one shot
Bad - capships find novas impossible to dodge and bomber accuracy increases.
Have fighter hulls immune to nova
Good - Makes bomber setup specifically for capships
Bad - Not sure if even possible
Slow nova down.
Good - Makes harder for distance one shot kill.
Bad part - Bomber still kills fighter by close proximity shot, even easier for capships to dodge.
Lower nova damage.
Good - Can reduce such that fighter can survive.
Bad - much less effective against capships.
Increase fighter armor.
Good - Can increase to point where fighter can survive better.
Bad part - lengthens fights, fighters too strong.
Increase fighter shield.
Good - Lasts longer against shield busters
Bad part - lengthens fights, still have one shot kill.
Decrease nova damage, increase refire rate, uses more energy, bomber gets more energy.
Good - lower to point that fighter with armor can survive one shot by dual novas (say 1/4 hull left)
Bad - faster refire gives bomber more chances, but energy supply can curb that such that effectiveness against caps remains the same, extra energy allows bomber better ability with guns
A bomber can not out turn you, A bomber can not out straffe you. You should not be out maneuveed by a bomber.
1. Who are these people who are going head to head with a bomber ? as they say, you butt head with a billy goat, you are bound to get a headache.
In a fair fight all things being equal, a bomber can never kill a fighter. You can always straffe and side step a nova shot, it does not follow you. If you are having hard time staying behind a bomber, please practice a little.
You can stay behind a Taiidan. Even if you can't, remember that the guns used by fighters have a much better fire arc than novas.
I am of the opinion that reducing Nova refire further and increasing damage and energy usage in a corresponding fashion would work well at balancing them against fighters, however.
