The only fighters from that that could work are; X-Wing, A-Wing, Tie Defender, and the Hapes Battlecruiser (which would go qute well with FL actually...).

I've seen a few of the Terran Battlecruiser meshes out there.

They're decent, but HEAVILY detailed so the poly count is extremely high. Too high for games.

I've looked around, found a Terran Battlecruiser look-alike: Thor's Warship. Yes, the Asgard's mothership carries the same design specs as the Terran Battlecruiser from Starcraft.

Generally, I think it'd be kewl, but I don't really know how feasible.. those things look insanely huge and klunky to fly around in (even as klunky as the Rhieland BS).

Now if I could finish the midway text mapping... I have to convert JPG images to another format just to get them to STICK! Don't ask me for mount points.. I'm nearly lost with that

Heh.. Can't believe I just thought of this.

Who here remembers the original Starfox game for the Super Nintendo ? I had that game, and loved that ship :)

k, one of the things alot of people like about this mod and the reason I first came here was that it was simply an expansion of the original freelancer game. It is one of the things that makes this server unique. I'm not keen on seeing imperial star destroyers flying around all over the place and fighting galaxy class starships. :wacko:

So far most of the ships added fit nicely into freelancer with only one serious exception (marsflyer). I have no problem with the addition of new ships but they should have a freelancer feel to them.

Side note: for a cruiser, anyone else find the huegenot thin and the weapons sometimes pass through the "wings"?

Side note 2: those looking or creating their own ships, think the server could use a transport (this one wouldn't be used by NPCs) and a nomad cruiser.

Anyways, well i consider that if we're to add ships, than its better they will be only fighter and freighter class. I think(after re-reading my previous post) that we have enough BS and the ones we have are cool(original is always the best) and I don't think that any cap. ships are to be added.

But about fighters its something else: lets say that the X-wing is more into the Fl univerce than the Marsflier(actually when i did come back from a 2 mounths "rest" I was surprised to see a ship like that here).

And again for the STARCRAFT(not startrek) ships - again focus on fighters, basically the Wrath. I think this ship is going to be a really nice addition to the Discovery mod(re-watched the original Starcraft videos from the terran campaign(the attack on the confederence platform and the tv speech of .... forgot his name, but there was enough fleet shown).Problem is i don't know if there are good models of it.

And another idea: can't the armor upgrades be made with fixed bonus to the hull? Like level 5 armor upgrade to add 4000 hull pionts? And there to be a different classes of armor upgrades-like the shields-for fighters,freighters , cap. ships? Beacuse now a BS with VII upgrade is more than 1.2 million hitpoints. And honestly 15 minutes of firing and dodging is quite tiring(not to mention that 1 sec out of focus and youre dead).I mean the max hp that a bs should have is not much than twice its original hull.

And another idea - some kind of shield booster and generators. Again shield booster might add hit pionts, the generators shield recarge and stuff. Maybe a few different types of shields with, lets say a big regen. rate but smaller compacity.
Just an idea... to shake and individualize things up.
(And to arguments like "it's not from FL univerce" aren't gonna be in place here.I'm pretty sure the guys in Digital Anvil have had Ideas like that, but stopped at the more acceptable and accessable way to the mass customer - no difficult to understand stuff. Well i think that 3 years after FL saw the world its time to make things like most of the space sims have done them decades ago.)
Of cource that will need extencive testin'-but thats what are we all here for.
And if some1 has ideas about new guns feel free to post.

Oh one last thing.I have sayed it b4 a long time: BS' are big ships-they should have torpedos.Don't you think? Serveral torpedo mounts(with ammunition needed) will spice up things a lil bit. And whats that world where lil' fighters have big guns , but the real kings of the battle don't? A torpedo mounts are nessesarry for the big ships.And not to mention that CM and mine droppers are needed too. A big and slow bs has no other way of avoiding homing projectiles than trying to shoot them-thats stupid. A CM is a needed attribute.All these improvements will make battles even more intensive and interesting(not to speak logicall). And Attacking a BS will require more than a good stand-alone fighter - this will improve team play and the usage of various classed ships for an assault or defence(oh and A cap class ship should have a bigger ammunition stock-the new mounts should be standard like fighter ones-no unlimmited ammo like the missle turrets-this will add the need for more $$$ to maintain a BS, but heck who sayed a whole BS is cheap to maintain?)

And b4 i put the fullstop on this long post I must say that StarLancer is the predessesor of FL-and there the cap ships have torpedoes.Think about that b4 saying that my BS ideas are ilogical(and try to find some examples of your own).


Then again these all things maybe will be immposible to include in the next version, but I'm looking forward for them to be included over time in the versions to come...

The_Damned is right capships need the CM's most big ships in all navy's have at least some form of CM to stop missiles. Sure they also have the goalkeeper defence guns too but come on, it's hard enough to hit a missile using the 8.33 refire weps let alone the chainguns.


The torpedo idea would probably be best for the destroyers, as they typically use them to compensate for their lack of the heavier guns that cruisers and BS's can mount.

The britonia destroyer is pretty weak with just 7 turrets, one of which can only fire forward, the only way to get 6 turrets on it to fire at the same time is having a target below and behind it. So perhaps it could have a destroyer forward gun, or some torpedo mounts, the kusari destroyer has nearly twice as many turrets, of which none are locked to fire in one direction.

I agree but a few torps on all ships (BS: 2, Destroyer: 3, Cruiser: 3, GB: 1/or forward gun).

But Damned as Igiss stated earlier we will not be a remake of evolutions. So shield boosters are out.

Also during my duel with Virus' cruiser we found that armor upgrades do not effect missiles (torpedos are effected though) . Two BS missiles (4,500 hull x 2 = 9,000 hull) took down my eagle (9900 x 3.25 = approximately 30,000 hull points.). I think this is a serious bug in the armro upgrades that needs fixed in the next update.

Typically gunboats are armed to the teeth with missiles.

Cruisers only need 2 torp mounts at most, if any.

The BS's could do with some, maybe.

And the destroyers, especially the britonia one, should have at least 4 torp mounts, the kusari one probably doesn't need torps as it has 13 turrets, all you need to do is fit the 6 forward turrets with missiles and maybe 2 others as well, it'll do lots of damage on it's own.
