Cool Idea I would make it 60 hours and restrict everything above bomber for official factions only. Why there are no 60 hour option?
This would solve 3-4 problems at the same time- zombie factions, capspam some more even.

As far as I am aware I am able to give option without being admin or ?
There is issue indeed. However the issue is in dead zombie factions and the difference between facitons- you cannot demand from Unioners or GC same amount of time that you demand from House military factions that lead the whole house and have a lot more to do. As result you have tons of zombie official factions- good example for that is GRN| faction that several months was under the requested time and somehow didn't lost its status. On the other hand you have the cap spamming indies and official factions having no real power.
5 issues so far:
1st Different time requirements for different type of factions.
2nd Remove all zombie Official factions using higher time requirements.
3rd Officials have no real power or anything exclusive to motivate people to join them, indie is a lot more easy- no morons in your feedback, no responsibilities and same shipline.
4th Indie Capspam-motivate indies to join factions by giving them real benefits.
5th Tagged ships are metagamed as hell.

The OP proposal is bad because it wont even fix point 2- so the official faction time must be doubled at least but this compared with other measures- I cannot see why the small factions should have more then 40-60 hours, big facitons with full shiplines battleships etc should have at least 60-80 hours. All factions should have some real in-game benefits to motivate indies to join them. Quality RP and activity from factions could be expected only if they have something more then indies- currently they don't- they are even in worse position because of the Tag metagaming and requirements and expectations thrown at them.
The funny thing is that many small factions have little to no indies- Mollys have 4-5 people indies for example I never saw unioner indie.

Server activity in certain places is just not high enough to make 2 days without AFKing 90K above plane.

Well, TBH became official loooong before my time here , so I cannot answer that question.
I we do have a lot of responsibilities though.
Diplomacy , giving the right example , helping new people ingame , training a lot to keep an edge in fights,
drive the Corsair storyline, holding the sair court , etc.

Every day i spend at least an hour on TBH, this is necessary but I don't mind.
If anything , In my experience official factions should get more options/power.
As of now we have no other power then a fr5 (a last resort only to be used in extreme cases.)

so yeah , what power.

I do agree with the 30 hour rule, increasing it wouldn't be a cool move though since disco is not a job , i say again , disco is not a job.

No thats actually just killing the official factions. I for myself wont let anyone 'force' me to play a game just for the sake of being an 'official faction leader'.

Im strictly against that 48 hours idea.

This is the response that all Faction leaders should state. We don't and won't 'force' anyone to play just for sake of being official.

I agree with several points however if you notice, almost a good portion of the so called 'zombie factions' are Gallic in origin. And we are trying as of late in order to work together to keep things going despite the extremely difficult enviroment we have to work in.

A great example was the other day when Council ships assaulted a base in Anjou, The GRN guard/home system. Almost 7 hours into the assault, GRN| and indies alike finally started to come around. What was sad in this was that almost half of those forces came from leeds/edinburgh. To be blunt. I don't want to see the GRN| as a copy of the .85 [KNF]

Aside from Del's group of brigands, which are in a worse position than us, I have only seen 4 indy brigands in the past year.

To be honest in order to keep factions around, the amount should be decreased to 20-24 hours.

I was leader of official faction, and I would not have minded higher requirement even if that meant being on the edge.
Hitting 30 hours per month is a joke. If your faction already has minimum number of members, how the hell can 5 characters represent whole NPC faction, especially if they struggle to show their presence in game.
