I'll be keeping an eye on how you guys handle this alliance gig. Having a Merc ID like me it's difficult to justify where I work and why because of the tag I have at the time (yes I let it change, mercenaries work for money not reputation). Or maybe I'm just confused and having a Merc ID sort of lets one "off the hook" in most cases. Either way it's good to know, most of the time my biggest concern in traveling the border systems is the reaction I'll attract based on my affiliation at the moment. Thankfully RP often saves me.
apology accepted..... im just tired of everyone pointing at us yes we are a new faction yes we broke some rules in the past but isnt it about learning from your mistakes? i think it is
' Wrote:LSF's list of enemies include Corsairs, Red Hessians and Unioners. Since none of those groups exist in Liberty space it suggests to me that this intelligence organization, "operating in secrecy", gets involved in other parts of Sirius to defend their corporate partners. Thanks to jump holes it's possible to get from Liberty to Tau space without taking armed ships through Bretonia, so no worries about violating somebody else's air space. I don't see any justification for saying "LSF combat ships can't be in Tau-31!" as long as they have Liberty tagged traders to defend.
CP
(p.s. I have no stake in this discussion. Just adding my $0.02)
@CP: Agreed
Here's my two cents... Tau 31 has a very lucrative trade run (allbeit a glitch in many of your eyes). the fact is it is there for now and it is heavily pirated at times. No self respecting faction would send out it's freighters into hostile territories witout an escort. Our purpose is to protect the economy and free trade of Liberty, and while Tau-31 is not in our jurisdiction for policing it's reasonable to expect liberty ships to trade there and thus reasonable that we protect those ships. I'll agree that the best rp option is to hire a merc or have the controling house faction protect the freighters once over the border, but to be quite honest it can be difficult to nearly impossible to find that help at times; thus instead of leaving our traders vulnerable we protect them with our own fighters. Now, you might not like the Tau 31 run (if you can call it a run), but even if we were to do the Stokes/LA, or Corfu/Cam run, or any other run for that matter, we would not allow our traders to go in unprotected.
Many of you have brought up real life politics to compare... well do you think that if the US was trading with another nation and had to go through hostile territory they'd leave their ships unprotected without an escort simply because they had to go through another nations territory? I think not. LSF is an intelligence agency that operates secretly... compare that to the CIA or something similar... they operate in many different countries (friendly-hostile and everywhere in between). Now i'm not saying we can freely police anywhere we want, but if our assets are threatened then why would we not be there?
Now while we are there we aren't supposed to be policing, this I agree with; and if one of our ships is policing I will personally take care of it, but on the flip side... if one of our ships are there protecting one or more of our freighters it stands to reason that they would not stand idly by when a ship from one of our allied/ friendly factions comes under fire. That would not only be wrong, but would be cause for unrest between that faction and the LSF.
Finally, as Sn!p3r said, the days of string-cheese (yes his name was string-theory, but he was not the brightest so I call him that) are behind us. We LSF members are trying to put our best foot forward and overcome the grave that was dug by string cheese. We do not need everyone pointing the finger at us alone. There are many factions that have done something similar to this, and the fact that LSF was for the most part the only one being pointed out is unfair and unjust. Please if you have a problem with LSF contact Sn!p3r or myself via pm or ingame. If we are doing something wrong we will rectify the situation immediately. Bashing us on the forums (in several different posts) will not get the problem solved, instead it will only cause a lot of anger and hostilities. Thanks and have a great day.
Well, I could counter this and ask why Liberty's Military Intelligence isn't funded by taxation, instead of having its own traders.
It's out of RP for Military Intelligence to escort traders in a foreign land on a regualr basis or to be traders at all.
I mean, fair enough to you guys for trying really hard to get a system, but tagging your traders seems unnecessary unless they are delivering supplies of grave importance to the LSF.
So, what you could do is arrange for Liberty based concerns to be protected by SF when they pass through BAF space and vice-versa.
Well, having Bretonia protect sensitive cargo to the LSF will be an unfavorable option. Just as in real life, if Bretonia fails to protect the LSF ships, then they get angry. If Bretonia is constantly called upon to protect them, they become angry. And LSF isn't going to want Bretonia protecting their most important goods, if any at all. In short, any intelligence agency isn't going let their cargo slip through the hands of the possibly "incompetent."
I think that having an LSF force in New London isn't exactly out of the realm of realistic. LSF would operate in Bretonia to protect interests of themselves and of allies, but on a more intelligence-based scale. It would not be so much as full-blown engagements, but engagements for certain, and already defined targets. Now, for other agencies like SA, there would probably be negotiations on a more broader scale.
My apologies - comment retracted:
Quote:As for LSF operating in Bretonian space, this does not seem to fit. They are very similar to a police faction, though quite different, but probably have no reason to operate in Bretonia. This would be like Liberty sending police up to Kusari - it isn't necessary.
Hype
(geez, I've been posting a lot lately. Don't expect it to continue for long since I'm kind of in a lull for RL stuff to do right now -- ending: Wednesday, and I'll probably see the daylight of Discovery again around November )
Retired A very big thanks to Dark Oddity who put my signature pic together
Hmm calling LSF ( not you and not in this topic) cap whores, a bunch of non rpers, and the worst and weakest faction is not criticism it is harassment something i will not stand for im done posting is this thread........
