Hone was engaged in PvP, his shield never went below 50%. He fled and docked and returned. He didn't feel he broke any rule because his shields never went below 50%. Admins however still sanctioned him over it.

Your example doesn't back up your argument. It is merely an example of a person trying to abuse the rule set to his benefit. If you reported him for it, the admins would bolt him down to the Battlestar's hull and let the Squids rape him.

Engaged how, exactly? Give a link to sanction, and what any info you can give. It's pretty vague right now without any solid data. And anyway, rules are rules, they state when the engagement happens. Obviously, admins can sanction anyone just using 1.2, but what's the point for clear rules then if they are not being enforced? Thus, i'd stick to the rules until admins come and say they are not enforced word by word.

Trader F1's on a pirate that has yet to shoot him, trader gets sanctioned, he F1ed out of a PvP interaction. More evidence and admin statements and what not to back up the other argument rather than your.

Besides, the shield draining thing doesn't limit a PvP interaction to just shields being downed to 50%.

There aren't different types of PvP engagements. There is just PvP engagement. You are right, the rules are the rules and the admins have made it clear before that a PvP engagement can start before any shooting happens.

Albeit that is from before the rule was changed to be less restrictive than it is now.

I'll quote from the thread just so you don't miss it.

That is not allowed in any case.

Notice Mr Hoodlum here says Hone docked after a role play encounter. Key words there is role play encounter. Hone claims his shields weren't dropped below 50% and yet the admins sanctioned him using the PvP death rule.

Actually no, they didnt sanction me on the pvp death rule, at first they did, but when I told them what happened - they mistook me for my escort - they sanctioned me on the disconnecting rule. Docking is fine if your shields arnt below half, its just the switching that was the problem.

P.S. to any admins reading: this event is NOT the one I filed the sanction on, even if it may look simillar.

I don't see anything in the sanction thread that says that.

Hone says he was about to switch into his fighter. Which suggests he was in his bomber.

A fighter is not larger than a bomber, and is perfectly possible for one lone merc to kill.

What you could've done, Hone, is ask the merc if they wanted a chance to claim the bounty on you if you came back out with your fighter. Then you screen their response if it's the affirmative, and head back out for the dogfight. Otherwise, just head to the bar for a while.

Player permission overrules rules on grounds of re-engagement/disconnection etc.-
eg. see same faction pvp training, or lost connection mid-fight.

Not sure what you mean by this, but docking during a PvP encounter, despite if you have been shot at or not, still counts as a PvP death, the 50% shield thing has nothing to do with docking during a PvP.

Not true, docking during a pvp FIGHT is a death.

This is fairly obvious and common sense. Personally I'd also consider doing this to be pvp abuse.

He came up to you, gave an engagement notice. You don't then dock and get into a bigger ship to kill him with. You were engaged, you docked, within his view.
Does this mean that pirates that run from lawfuls, even if the lawfuls never get off a shot, are considered dead according to pvp rules?
