With all due respect, you two must be either doing something wrong, or you're just terrible with missiles. I've always been effective with anything from Paralyzers to Sunslayers, even back when I was flying destructable Vanilla models. Joe and I used to have some pretty epic dogfights.

Nothing needs a change.

Your opponent either doesn't dodge or you're not playing under heavy lag. I've played this mod for about five years now, I know what I'm talking about.

It sounds like you two are firing your missiles with each joust that you attempt, which would explain why you're burning through your ammo so quickly. Don't fire on each joust. Fire at random jousts. If you fire consistently, the enemy will just catch on and keep CD-ing your missiles. If you fire randomly, the enemy won't know when to expect your missiles and chances are that he/she will be caught off-guard when you do fire them, making it much more likely for him/her to get hit instead of dodging/CD-ing them.

Also, you seem to be having issues just getting missiles to home in. If you notice that your missiles just suddenly start flying straight, change targets and then change back to the original target that you were shooting at before. This usually causes your missiles to start homing in again.

Carlos Rivera: Corsair Brotherhood Pirate - Retired, shifted to Tripoli Shipyard's Research and Development engineering teams
Anthony Cameron: Guild Core Bounty Hunter - Killed in Action, committed suicide after being trapped in Omicron Minor following its destruction
Juan Ruiz: Outcast Ghost of Razgriz Pirate - Killed in Action, killed by the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army during Bretonian piracy raid
Michael Winchester: Liberty Security Force Agent - Missing in Action, likely killed during Rheinland espionage mission or trapped in Rheinland Space
Eric McCormick: Order Pilot - Retired, shifted to planetside training of new recruits

Liberty and Nomad Backstory, Very interesting - read it!

Meanwhile, you've wasted time and missiles. This isn't something that you should have to do.

If you've played for 5 years, you shouldn't be having that problem. But on the other hand, In all my time I've flown fighters and bombers almost exclusively, and used to have a Sunslayer on every ship.

If you're having such trouble, try hitting with Sunslayers for awhile. Once you get good, switch back to missiles. It's the only thing I can think of, since I've never had problems with missiles like you say you do.

Either that, or you're just terrible with missiles. I dunno what to say.

And you are talking about not being able to hit with missiles in 4.83 and 4.84, right?
Well, here's some info. I used a Cannonball launcher all the time in those two versions, and I had a very high hit ratio with them.
I've seen people putting only two missiles and instakilling titans (vanilla ships were vulnerable to explosions then).
Hell, I even know people who were hitting very well with sunslayer torpedos, which is why they were nerfed.

Missiles can still hit, if you time them right.
Hielor, if you hit only 3 out of 70 paralyzers (which hit very often) - you are definitely doing something wrong, lag or no lag, dodging opponents or not.
Also, what Klaw said. Same thing as nukes, people tend to drop mines/fire missiles every turn and praying they'll hit. They won't.
The less you use them - more you surprise your opponent.

Also, a CD is very useful for missile users too. Stop their slides, then fire your missiles.

Can't let you bash folks in your sig Chopper-Del

Note that lag doesn't always work against you. You learn that in a Vanilla fighter getting lagtorped.

Also, a tip is that smaller blast radius CDs work much better in a fight, since they won't kill your momentum too.

If you want to beat a missile guy, just dodge till he runs out, they are way too underpowered at the moment.

That's silly logic. Are you suggesting that someone shouldn't be able to dodge them?
