make FLSpew.txt read only, hidden - you can erase the content with the good old notepad to safe space.

Try to maintain the fl directoy and its files in a non-defragmented area.
When another ship comes into range all the data like graphics will be newly loaded, that's a limitation of the game itself.

FL is a DirectX8 - yes EIGHT - game. But even on my old X850 there was no performance issue.

The top part of you're suggestion appears to have mostly worked, instead of dropping to 57FPS at its low in the milliseconds it does it only drops to 59...

Still slightly jumpy, it used to be constant 60 FPS...

I wonder what else is messing it up.

Oh, and I checked and 3d sound WAS disabled... and greyed out...
So that spamming error is from something else but its dead now because of me making the spew file read only and hidden.
