It wasn't a buff, it has the same stats except a few more bots and bats. It's up to the devs to decide if it needs to be re-balanced for the new model (assuming it gets accepted). And yes, your idea is good, maybe the current gunship can keep its model and become Borderworlds tech, like the Hacker line.
About the model itself, you know I like it. I'm not fond of the pods though, maybe you can twiddle with them a bit.
