It's because it's difficult to balance the fact that this is a computer game with the fact that it is also a roleplaying game.

I have to admit that if I didn't like shooting at things and getting shot at, I probably wouldn't be playing still. I think a lot of other people also really appreciate the computer-game side of Discovery.

I'd love it if I could get the same amount of computer game fun outside of conn, while talking in-rp and such, but the fact is I have to have several different ships and then travel around for an eternity before meeting anybody to interact with. Or go to NY on an indie pirate ship, but that gets old fast.
