Well, some planets/colonies/stations might not have the equipment to make their own poop paper or table utensils as well as drill bits for needed repairs. What if it is a medical station or listening outpost or a research station? I think it kind of falls in place. I mean look at us now, we are living in the 21st century, we still poop and use TP.
