I'm sure Google, Microsoft and Apple could all afford fighter jets and tanks, but they still rely on the police and military to secure their assets instead.

And in Freelancer, there's no police or military in a lot of places, most of the time.

If you can afford it and can convince the government, a corporation getting a capital ship is hardly a thing.
