Right, I'm goiing to explain this very carefully, as it's been explained to me. To change the starting system would affect the singleplayer game, and whilst I know the general consensus is that SP has become largely unplayable due to the ramped up difficulty of the NPC's, it's still a primary concern. Secondly in order to change the starting system, assuming that the SP aspect is to be scrapped, would require a vast restructuring not only of the starting system but all the systems that surround it, the NPC levels don't just go from level 1 in New York to level 19 in Texas, there is a gradiation of difficulty meaning that you can go from system to system and increase your skill and profit by doing so. Changing the immediate neighbour systems would then mean their neighbour sytems need altering, and the work load increases exponentially with every step you need to take. From what I can gather this would require an entirely new version of the mod, essentially rebuilt from scratch.
Given that I have been told by credible sources that Igiss has no intention of doing away with the singleplayer campaign, this idea becomes relatively moot. But if the opposite is in fact true, the above needs very much taking into account.
