IDEA: New Projectile-based Machine Gun for Battleships?

Sounds Interesting....Reminds me alot of MW4's Autocannon's

Reminds me more of Battletech's Gauss rifle, which is just a variant of mass driver weapon.

I like the idea...although with the mechanics of it, you'd think it would do little to no shield damage, but a LARGE amount of hull damage. Might be a good new weapon for BS.
