That's why I said you should negotiate or hire an escort.
It's simple: If you want people to play on this roleplay server, you should keep in mind that both sides need to have fun. If you insist on being a pirate like pirates actually are (non-disney/non-one-piece), people don't have fun. That's why I think even a bloody pirate in FL should give other people a chance, lowering their demands a bit, depending on the roleplay quality. You want to have fun as a pirate, but if every encounter in border worlds means I have no other option than dropping the whole cargo or paying so much that I would need up to three long trade routes to make profit again, then people shouldn't wonder why the "noobs" stay at Penny and do Helium runs, guarded by BHG and Liberty Cruisers. You simply have to find a good middle point. I think fair roleplay is better than authentic, evil roleplay. That's all I'm implying.
And like I said before, this also means the trader simply has to accept some losses, be it being taxed by a pirate, avoiding trade lanes or hiring escorts.
