They can. This is a roleplaying server. As long as somebody is operating within the scope of the rules they can do anything they damn well please and it is none of your business whether you like it or not, because they aren't hurting anybody.

So Helfire Legion powergaming their way through with disassembling Jump Gates to reverse-engineer it for Docking Ring not only makes no sense lore-wise, because those are two different technologies, but is also against the rules as the other side, being Ageira and Liberty/Rheinland, was not even contacted about such inward and solo RP conducted by Hellfire Legion. Funny enough, HF leader is developer and suddenly it happens to be OK to do so and is silently implemented as system change 9 months later.

This would hold a bit more weight to it if if Gallia wasn't capable of developing their own rings, and Crete and Malta didn't have theirs.

Gallia found similar artifact to what Ageira found. That's lore. Legit.

Crete, Malta and Minor had not and still has not any lore behind Docking Rings. Digital Anvil putting them there because they didn't think of something else does not make it legit lore, because there is no lore about it.

Where is the lore behind other Docking Rings? There's lore behind Yuma's, which states that DSE built it. Which actually confirms all established lore hinting it being Ageira's technology.
What about Planet Gran Canaria? Planet Akabat? Pecos? Malta? Crete? Minor ( gone )? Tangier?

Complete independence, Ageira would only want to make sure you won't break rules or do things which Ageira inRP wouldn't make (because you will carrying their tag). Apparently it is now OK to share private Skype conversations ( just like previous time you did so, although this time someone shared it to you, which now you share here ), especially removing major part of the context. When an "independent" faction uses non-generic ID it must abide to established lore and diplomacy, does it not? There's even Faction Right 2 based on that to promote a reasonable type of roleplay.

I am all for imaginative roleplay that does not go against established lore. Else factions are useless because everyone can do everything at anytime and at any location they want.
