I do have a follow-up question:

We are allowed to RP based on the ID that comes back with scanning the ship, correct?

If the ship is untagged, but we see the ID as primary faction, we, inRP, know that?

Or, is this not allowed? Do we have to "play along" with the fact that they are undercover, and RP based on the IFF that shows?

Just curious.

Generally, IDs are visible inRP (and usually ship has respective IFF anyway). Though there are few exceptions like Wilde or undercover operations (like intelligence faction flying ship with FL IFF and pretending they are freelancer) where is part of RP etiquette to pretend you don´t see the ID and play along. However it is optional, not mandatory, so if you start directly yelling "Wilde ship here, attack it!", drop proper engagement notice and attack it, it is not against rules, just against good RP manners (also you may rob yourself from interesting encounter, sometimes it is quite fun to play controlled role of a victim).
