I think this is all a great idea, nothing wrong with spicing things up. I remember back when the original ZA was prowling about and it resulted in ironic twists, internal conflicts, and eventually wound up all being resolved. I don't even consider this some meme faction, since the ZA wound up basically being Zoner villans, it was fun to have them to fight against and wonder what crazy thing they'd try to pull off next. Purposely bringing that back just for some fun and pews doesn't seem so bad.
So this faction idea really to me is about giving us a taste of that again, under what seems like will be a much more controlled situation. I say let it run its course and see what happens. I understand the originals (TA) might not like, but TA's problem in the end was perhaps taking it a bit too seriously. If there is no real claim to the ZA still, I don't see why it shouldn't be tried. It is poking fun a bit, but time to see it for what it really was.
As to the storyline effect, this does seem like a logical direction regarding the change of hands of Freeport 2. I had been under the impression the station had been abandoned to local outlaws in full knowledge of the leaving Zoners, but I found that a little out of place. So this was going to take some form or another, this tribute to zoner antics of years past is perfect for a modern zoner shake up, and seems to me those behind it know full well what direction to take it. It was fun to have the ZA to fight against before, and I look forward to seeing how it all pans out.
As to an ID, an individual one makes sense but it seems to come about suddenly, and it does bust in and sort of go around the usual procedures, time and numbers to get such an ID so soon. If they can't get an altered ID, maybe the members should start working on SRP chars, and in the meantime the admins could make Bering another 'contested zone' allowing regular Zoners to fire on any ship in Bering (save usual exceptions) for a trial period. However with the effort put in, and being based around pre planned lore, the RP seems there to justify some Zoners getting extreme for a while. For those ardent Zoners, if there is a vote they'll get their say in there, but keep in mind that solving for your disdain of the ZA inrp will be much more interesting and entertaining than shooting it down completely.
