At the military academy, Hindmarsh excelled in his coursework and graduated second place in his class. He wanted to avoid being within the top ten so that he could maintain a low profile. However, he also wanted to join the test fighter pilot program. It was important for him to fly the most advanced snubcraft possible. He had plans on becoming rich.

After graduating, he asked to be put on a frontline fighter squadron that would actively engage the cardamine fuelled Outcasts and Lane Hackers. Only the more experienced Navy and LSF squadrons were sent up against them. The LPI at the time avoided them altogether.

He was either going to get rich, or he would die trying. And that meant getting clearance into the Zone-21 and Alaska program. This was where the most secret and advanced weapons were developed when he was in the Navy in the 790’s A.S.

His colleagues described him as a stoic squadron wingman, but their perception of him changed once he was promoted to squadron lead. His “stoicism” was a front for blatant careerism. It became apparent to those under his command that he valued taking down hostiles more than he valued bringing his pilots back alive.
