My PoB's were a little different. They never lasted! (I was sometimes surprised they lasted as long as they did). Some of the 'drama' was misinterpreting my RP character. Looking back I needed to separate my person from my character better. Learnt from that hence Festus McBoyle (love that name)
Once I started to "obey the law" in RP and had a legit base there was a player routinely harrassing me ingame and destroying them. That was before they added the HPHP to bases and one person could no longer take out a base on his own.
St Denis summed it up early in this thread. Ships can respawn. Bases don't.
