and PVP is a mode of roleplay.

Gonna leave that on its own. Kinda speaks for its self.

It is. Some factions are militaristic or aggressive, and attacking things is in their nature. In fighting, they play the role of warriors. Roleplay is not just what we type into the chat or write on the forums. It's our decisions, and our loadouts, and our strategies. It's the alliances we forge, and the bridges we burn. Do you gun down the escort first, or try to get the transport to cough up? Do you pick off the weak link, or try to take down the pack leader? Do you choose to run, or go down fighting? Pay the pirate, or run away? PVP is not just what happens after the engagement lines get dropped. PVP is all the stuff that leads up to that too.

Freelancer is a space shooter and Discovery is a story driven by conflict. Where characters have conflict, there is PVP. The long hunt to find someone whose name shows up in the chat list is PVP, even if you never find them.

PVP is RP. RP is PVP. Negotiation is conflict. Siege is conflict. Some factions prefer to do their battle with words, others with money, and other still with guns.
