If jump drives came back to how they used to be, they should still be restricted to their three system jump maximum. At first I hated the way that was designed but now I've come to appreciate it more. It never made much sense from an inRP standpoint nor a balance standpoint that a ship could pop out of Omicron Gamma and just appear in some place like Orkney; across the entire breadth of Sirius to appear elsewhere. The other thing I hated was the length of the jump coordinates. Maybe there could be a way to shorten this so that a third party program is not required to paste the coordinates into the game?
The previous paragraph aside, I've never really enjoyed the way each system has a preordained Jump Point so my thoughts on jump drives is to have a mix of both systems; old and new.
Still have the preordained jump point if coordinates are not entered.
If jump coordinates are entered, utilize this jump location instead (provided the coordinates are not expired).
Maintain the current limits on distance to jump.
It merges the best of both. Who wants to jump across the entire length of Sirius anyway? RP is along the way! (If you can find it that is.)
But that isn't what this post is about, it's about an alternate use for survey modules.
You fear oblivion. Yet you forget. The universe remembers every atom of your being. Even dust hums your name in the dark. Roleplay is dead. Long live Powertraders and PvP I guess.
