Civil Servant, I agree with you completely. As far as I see it, there are two major points to hit.
First: we gotta keep their attention split. We need the Navy focused on Kusari if we wanna make the most headway in Pennsylvania. Second: fighting them in the open's a suicide mission, so we gotta stick to our advantages in the short term. Strike hard, strike fast, strike where they're weak. Without more numbers we're gonna struggle to pull it off, so we need to make the most of what we've got.
The New Dawn's already identified a couple of weak points in Pennsylvania. The biggest one that we know is a large storage depot at the jump gate--we believe that this is a refueling and supply stop for local warships in the system. It has no static defenses, but it's deep in a cloud full of asteroids. That being said, a team of fighters and small craft could run in with some ordnance, rupture the tanks, and get out again. If the tanks are full of fuel, then this'll cripple local force projection in the system. Getting a bit more intel would be good here.
Another set of weak points are DSE's storage depots throughout the system. From reconnaissance we determined that there's a line of 'em going all the way from Erie to Tremont, one next to each trade lane ring in construction. Those are also pretty vulnerable, and since they're smaller targets they're easier to harass.
What I wanna gauge is whether it's better to start harassing immediately or if we should hold our hand until we can take out the big target at the gate. If they heighten security because of attacks of opportunity, it might make it harder to take out the big one. However, they're prolly gonna heighten security no matter what we do, and sitting around doing nothing at all doesn't get much done. If we're gonna hold until we take out the storage satellite, we gotta move everyone now to get in position.
The New Dawn's already redeploying our militia to Pinnacle Outpost as a staging area. Some generous donations have enabled us to acquire a Fearless-class destroyer and a Conference-class gunboat from the Zoners of Baffin, and we've got one more gunboat in position to make for a solid element. We're lacking crew to deploy the Fearless openly just yet, but we're working on that through a recruitment campaign.
Another idea posed by one of the other militia members was that we could try intercepting a prison transport as it's leaving Erie--maybe disrupting the tradelane on the way to New York. That'd get us a bunch of sympathizers very quickly, and might allow us to field way more pilots and fully crew our warships without much turnaround time.
All in all, in complete agreement with you. But whatever crisis we cause, we gotta be in position to make sure we can give relief supplies to the civilians on Erie. We've got logistics vessels on standby, and blockade runners. Just gotta plan things out accordingly. I'll be meeting with Doc Holliday soon, and once I get his thoughts I'll have a more concrete plan for that.
