People who say armors are not mandatory are deluding themselves, as if a 1/3rd EHP loss is not significant.

I've hardly ever used the Recruit ID except for very edge cases of setting up a complex and specific ship for specific kindsa events - Almost all of them RP events. The one thing I found good there was taken from that ID's usability too, but that's because others were naturally abusing it instead of being good boys and girls. Shit Happens, we lose nice things that way.

Besides. It's not delusional. It's fact. I even use the Lightweight armor on a good portion of my ships, because EHP don't mean anything if you're a fat fuck sat in a doughnut factory chowing down on every projectile thrown at you.

Point is, armor is 'Personal Preference', and 'Playstyle Dependent'. If you wanna charge in like Darius and facetank the entirety of your enemy fleet while survivng, grab yourself a stronghold by all means. Y'all did just fine without them before though. Armor doesn't mean you automatically lose a fight. Armor simply changes the playing field up a bit. It's not so outrageous you can't beat them without it while they have it.
