Well, there are many many many distributions, some user-friendly, some really hardcore, some super-small... I think you meant Fedora,( but I do not know almost anything about it, I am the same newb as you are with this OS.)

If you want to try it out, at first, I recommend downloading an installation CD and running the Linux from the CD, so you can try it before installing, formatting disk partitions or anything around that. - its called a Live CD (and you can install the system from it, while browsing net or anything...)

One more thing: If you do not feel like that, better think about it twice before trying something. I am lucky to have my bro, who has had Ubuntu for 6 or so months now, so he can guide me on what to do and what not.

It really is like growing up a girlfriend instead of searching for one.

EDIT: And the graphical effects (compiz for now) are much better and less power-hungry, than in Vista:P
