Mmm... perhaps living radiation? The roleplay limitation could be that you'd need to consume some of it before moving on and whatnot. Heh.

I don't want to rant so i won't type down anymore of it for now. Hope this helps in any way.

well, ill let on a little bit to what I'm thinking here-

In mythology and folklore, there are these things known as Will-o-the-wisps. The term refers to lights, generally in forests, swamps, and marshes, which lure travellers into dangerous areas. Now, science has tried to account for these phenomena as visual effects created by swamp gases and tricks of the light/eye - people who follow them usually end up getting stuck in swamp mud and drown or die of starvation. It's pretty common up near Ireland I think, where peat bogs which are nearly impossible to escape from once you've fallen in are very common.

In other mythology, there are creatures known as dryads and/or nymphs, which are 'spirits' of the forest or of nature. Dryads and nymphs are generally female but not always, and are known for tricking people and being all-around mischievous. Dryads/Nymphs are also, across numerous mythos, considered to be shapeshifters who can blend into nature or take on any form they please, and sometimes they've been said to change the physical form of others as well - an example being a dryad/nymph turning a human into a nymph themselves.

Similar myths and legends are seen in almost every religion and cultural area in the world. What I want to do is take it from being mere tricks of the light or mythology to being an actual alien race in Sirius. The idea is that we have this race of aliens - most likely originating from Planet Gaia in edinburgh (since it's info and relation to real-world areas most closely matches the forest and swamplands where the above creatures are found). Members of this race would have no natural form, other than perhaps looking like a ball of light or a cloud of illuminated gas, but would be capable of 'shapeshifting' into other forms at will.

The purpose of such would be to infiltrate or blend in with other races in disco, primarily humans. They would not be a violent race entirely - more curious, perhaps mischievous. Based on how things work out with other alien factions (phantoms, wild, keepers, etc.) I'll find an aim for the group - whether they be another major alien race at war with those mentioned, or maybe nuetral/friendly to them, maybe they dont even care about other race politics but just want to protect their 'home' (gaia, which would in turn make them gaians - this could help bolster the NLH and indy gaian forces with something a little different, and bring some more life to bretonia).

The other option is to have them based on a world outside of populated space, rather than base them on gaia/edinburgh. With this option, their world would likely be discovered by zoners, and the race's curiosity would lead to them taking on human forms and 'mingling' with the zoners they encounter, eventually working their way further into occupied space.
