As I have repeated a fair few times now, this is not about stopping people from flying ships. I want to see indy navy caps around hell, I like it. The reason I have done this is to resolve an issue with overkill from liberty lawful people. I can order people within the LN to cease fire or to back off when overkill is being applied, but all too many times I have stood helpless to do anything while someone, alone in an unlawful fighter, is utterly raped by a pack of caps which I have no way of stopping.
I am making this restriction in order to bring a culture of fair play to liberty, not out of any will to control people's RP. People who have disagreed with this have been accepted already, and people who have shaky roleplay skills will be helped with them, but not refused based on a lack of story writing ability.
I don't expect anyone to be entirely in line with our RP, hell I don't even expect absolute compliance with our orders. They are indies for a reason.
All I want to see is -some- RP and the attitude which prevents people from overkilling. Hell I'll even let a little overkill slide as we all make mistakes sometimes. I know I have.
As I said before, the idea behind this is not to stop everyone from flying caps, but to get people to change their attitude to the game. So far I am seeing it work. Liberty currently doesn't have...
A. Tons of oorp trash.
B. People complaining about getting ganked.
I consider this to be a success
We have already added people to the roster of approved ships who were initialy very much against this restirction, as they have actualy listened and seen the reaosn behind it.
It is -very- easy to get approved.
I hope that deals with any of the issues you raised, and if not, feel free to PM me.
eh there are certain situations when overkill is useful
IE fighting a phantom (or a jedi or any better pilot) (at least in my opinion, im never gonna bring a fighter to fight a phantom, or against any better pilot than me, im gonna make sure i have either a tactical advantage or i level the playing field, in short i use common sense)
plus meh, i love caps, i feel more secure in one ( and am so much better a cap pilot than fighter pilot, fighters look cool, but caps are harder to kill)
EDIT: my opinion is partially because i hate it when people order me around, its not in my personality to be told what to do (if you know me, im quite stubborn and fiercely independent, and dont like people who try to order me around)
EDIT2: and joe since when have you been lawful?
and it clears stuff up sorta, but meh im not playing anymore so it really doesnt matter atm (maybe until 4.85 comes out)
