The LN is about space superiority. The marines would have limited cap ships (just enough to support its ops) and would mostly be for planetary/station boarding actions, and for fighting abroad. (its a war time faction mostly) also for the usual ambassador/embassy/president guarding stuff then USMC does now.

"The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is a branch of the United States armed forces responsible for providing force projection from the sea,[2] using the mobility of the U.S. Navy to rapidly deliver combined-arms task forces." So the LMC would be about projecting troops into stations/planets/ other ships from space, with the support of combined arms (the command division is the main focus, carrying its troops, rping them boarding stuff, getting the bombers and hfs to destroy opposition to these boardings and to carry out bombing runs, using any capships to carry out bombardements, and fighters/hfs/ a small amount of capships/ the LN to defend these operations from space attack and to attain superiority over the area of operations)

"The United States Marine Corps serves as an amphibious force-in-readiness. As outlined in 10 U.S.C. 5063, and originally introduced under the National Security Act of 1947, it has three primary areas of responsibility:
"The seizure or defense of advanced naval bases and other land operations to support naval campaigns;
the development of tactics, technique, and equipment used by amphibious landing forces; and
such other duties as the President may direct."
The LMC will be used to seize/defend stations/planets (in a sense of ground troops, we dont fight without a ground presence being deployed), practice tactics, and do special duties (e.g marine one, embassy/ambassadorial guard)
LMC aerospace division will not be focused on space superiority like the LN, but rather as what in modern times is called "Close Air Support" as in being used instead of an individual way of war, but as support of the army/marines
