I usually keep talking long enough to think of a proper fee. It also happens that i intend to ask for credits, but end up asking cargo, due to how the conversation went. If you are unhappy about your demand, you probably didn't spend enough time on forming it.

That being said, i don't really see a problem in "demanding" a little extra if they caused you trouble. Just tell them why. See it like administration costs or something.
