Basically, I take the IFF and name as in-RP information.
I use the word "transponder" to describe my IFF, as it's basically around the same thing.
It's broadcasting a signal to pilots in the area, telling them what the ship is affiliated with and what the pilot's/ship's name is. If this wasn't accessible to everyone, we'd have some messes during battles, I think.
So, tags are in-RP, obviously.
I, however, believe that IDs are completely OORP.
I have a simple explanation for this.
Take the intelligence services (M-15, LSF, the Rheinland one[unspellable as usual] and the Kusari one) as examples. Should it be so easy to find them out if they're squawking something else?
I think not.
That's like looking in a plainclothes policeman's wallet for his badge.
