Researchers and Pirates?

How would a Pirate.. well, pirate a Researcher?

Take all of their lab equipment/specimens? What would the pirates gain from that?

Or just kill the researcher, which wouldn't make sense to me, as the pirate would know it's most likely a known researcher and his/her dissapearance would cause quite a bit of unwanted attention.

And how would a researcher respond to being pirated?

"Go! My lab minions! To the hydro-clorpphinilicatedoriniumosis stabylitatorilizationizers!"

And would it even make sense for a researcher to be flying alone, anyways - should they stick to explorers and recon vessels?

Just something for us to think about. And yes, I do have an interest in being a researcher.
