Proposal #1
If the aforementioned Artifact is indeed just a derelict example and therefore will have no humming vibration or emanating glow around it present.

Proposal #2
The Artifact is emitting a glow with a humming vibration indicating that this was taken from part of the vessel itself.

The huge difference in the 2 proposals is down to the fact that if it is very much still "alive" then it will be much more significant to our current situation and, as such, we will need you to keep it in that state by following the instructions provided with proposal #2.
