if the described situation happenes as you said - the carrier captain acted pretty responsible and level headed

"because we can" is a term often applied to pointless actions - closely followed by "cause you deserve it" ( in different variations )

why does the navy "hide" in large ships? - maybe cause its their role. - they are the sledgehammer, the army. they are not social workers.

why do pirates attack a carrier near manhattan? - i have no idea. boredom? suicidal tendency?

aside from the rather snappy response - it is a game. - players like to compete and interact. - thats a very basic need... and they compete by pvping each other. some people like that way of interaction, others don t like it too much. - but pvp is still the primary way to interact on the server. - pvp is not necessary for roleplay - but takes up a large spot there.

and at the end of the day - it is mostly about having fun.

edit:

"I thought this was a RP server, not a capital-ship server."

this is not a capital ship server, but it is nither a bomber server or a fighter server! - it is a freelancer server with roleplay aspects. - not hard to understand, i think. - the way YOU say it - it sounds as if its "either" a roleplay OR a "capital ship" server. - biased much?
