Battleships- a solution

Warning this is all my personal opinion and to say the least im a bit jaded in this subject. (also I do not consider gunboats capships no matter what anyone says. The only ones I feel fit into that are the cruisers and up)






Wouldnt 1 and 2 lead to favoritism in a lot of cases? Most factions only allow their upper echelon to get these ships, you know its not just the faction leaders that deserve to have fun in these ships. There are a great deal of people who just enjoy capship rp and such.

There seems to be a huge bias against capships and it baffles me. The only capships truly spammed are the labc and the geb, which can be fixed easily. I personally see more lolwuttery in bombers and gunboats yet people barely breath a word about that but rant and rave about the demons that are battleships.

Lets try to figure out why people are so against capships...
1. They attract lolwutters... ok valid complaint but the point to which people color all capships as this and look down their noses at it is absurd.

2. Its huge and has huge impact on rp, so when its mismanaged it others can feel it, plus it takes a few bombers to take one down. Also valid but I can counter this with "all those lolwutter pirates in gunboats and bombers are ruining rp" and it would be just as valid. Are you going to restrict gunboats and bombers to?

3. Pvp whoreing. This is an accusation that is thrown around constantly here, the "your just a pvpwhore/capwhore". Yes you can be a pvpwhore and cause havoc but you know this game is designed around pvp. You want to get rid of pvp, fine I know its not everyones cup of tea, but please if it riles you up so much go to a some sort of mud/tabletop rpg or to a freelancer server with no player fire.

4. Fox and the grapes. These ships cost absurd amounts of credits and very few are going to do the mind numbing grind to get said ships. I think some of the dislike is due to the fox and the grapes effect.

5. Elitism. See im still somewhat new here. I have a different view from the lot of you, and honestly from it the things I see appall me at times. To put a very emotional rant that I could do short, I feel that a lot of people define the word eletist. Maybe thats part of the dislike for bs I dont know I could be wrong.


I may be completely off my base here but im left at an conundrum. Here I am finding the one thing I enjoy in this game (cruiser/bs rp and pvp) and all anyone ever does is talk about how to limit it, how to curtail it and how to make it more held down. It already vexes me that these ships that I love oh so tenderly take more time to grind out the creds for then it took me to level a character to 80 in wow, that fair though. These behemoths are the mighty magnus dei, I can understand them costing that much, but seriously dont limit them more. Its really the labc and the geb that are spammed leave the bs and other cruisers alone.
