Battleships- a solution

yes - that attitude sadly sums up the problem when it comes to seriously limiting shiptypes. - as long as SUCH an attitude is around, i do never trust self nominated judges of "good roleplay" who wants others to limit.

this attitude especially is a reason why there is such a resistance against limitations. - its unreasonable, its subjective and to top it up... its also insulting. ... - deal with it.

discovery id not a democracy. - but discovery is free for all ( surprising, isn t it? ) one of the cornerstones of the mod and the server is that it is free. - not free of any monthly fee only, but also free to express yourself and your roleplay in whatever ways you like.

it would be nice if people took the time and really interacted. - the GREATEST majority of players is responsible and perfectly able to roleplay a warship. - only a minority is incapable of roleplaying - and funny enough ... out of that minority - most of them fly either non-combat ships ( transports ) or bombers and fighters. - only the smaller part of those that cannot roleplay fly battleships - don t believe it? - make your statistics.



why would someone want to limit something?

- there may be a problem - yet.... i really fail to see a global problem that cannot be solved in roleplayed ways. people talk of liberty etc. - funny though, whenever i fly there activly LOOKING for the capspam - i appear to avoid it. - there are capships.... - but i actually EXPECT capships. - whyever should i play disco then? - if i don t want playercapships - i d play vanilla.


or maybe i just want "others" not to fly capships? - yes.... achievement is only sweet when others cannot reach it. - whats a reward when everyone can get it. - its only really good when you know that you, but not others can have it. ( in other words - jealousy )


so - i d love to hear - out of the 200 players each night - how many battleships are such a problem that they require "a solution" ( the term means that there is a problem - cause there s no solution when there s not a problem )

during the last YEAR of 4.84 - i ran my statistic on warships. - and that was 4.84 - with the BHG ( for those that remember )

out of 150 - 200 players at peak times - you got like 3-5 battleships TOTAL ... but around 20-30% bombers. lets say - the ratio hasn t changed... 3-5 battleships ( roleplayed ones ) are a problem that needs to be solved?

there are quite some cruisers / battlecruisers alright - but funny enough - people said "cruisers, we can deal with" - so we cannot deal with 3-5 battleships but cruisers we can deal with.

much ado about nothing, really.

and before its mentioned - i m not affected by whatever is chosen in any way. - but i remember that having a really free choice and ASSISTANCE from other players that were not prejudice and stupid helped me a lot when i started playing here and having "fun". what i liked the most was the freedom and the good natured attitude.

had there been bitching all around and restrictions by players more equal than others... disco would be a lot less popular - and popularity is what we need. without it, the server goes down like some of the technically better mods of freelancer that usually have a great population of 5- 10 players.
