Getting way off topic here. I guess the point is that if Bretonia asked for Liberty's support in Tau-31, or if Liberty saw a threat to themselves there, or if a common enemy was hold up there then their presence there would be understandable. But, none of those cases is true as far as I know, so you win.

If this is alluding to the SF/SA pact, this statement is right and wrong. SF has a fairly liberal relationship with SA right now, and logically, because we are at war, it makes sense to have assistance down there. As for Tau-31, there is some logic in having assistance from another faction help us in an all-out war.

As far as the real-world topics:

In the past, civilizations and later countries have been given full support from their allies in their territory. For example, in both WWI and WWII France allowed America, Britain, (and the Soviet Union, but I think they were pretty busy holding off the Central/Axis Powers on their side) and other allies into their country during the war. If a nation needs assistance, then allies will probably give it to them assuming that they have adequate supplies.

However, financial aid, weapons, technology, and naval blockades were given in support of the war effort (the whole reason Japan attacked us in the first place). Also American pilots were voluntarily sent to fly in the British Air Force.

This is also a very valid argument. The U.S. in both world wars and in other wars after have given support other than direct fighting. The U.S. was involved before. And technically, Japan and Germany didn't share the "alliance" that we may think. In fact, the only real thing that Japan had in common with Germany was and the need for natural resources. The alliance was very weak by any means.

Japan attacked the U.S. because it tried earlier to attack China (to gain natural resources) and it miserably failed. They needed resources, so they went after the U.S., one of the countries with a massive amount of them. The U.S. realized that they would eventually be thrown into the war on either side, and decided to help eliminate the European threats since they figured that Hitler would eventually get their anyway, and France/Britain were taxed to the max.

Only once the Allies had taken Berlin (or more the Soviet Union taken it) did the U.S. divert its worries to
Japan.
