Lets not forget how my beloved country for all intents and purposes forces aid from her allies. You think Blair actually wanted to go to Iraq with "The Evil One"? Nevertheless the UK did go to Iraq with us, as did Japan, Australia, Canada, and a slew of other countries. And lets not forget World War II. Germany never attacked us, regardless, we went to Europe to help defend France, Poland, and Great Britain. It wasnt until after we did that Nazi U-Boats began raiding our shores. Granted we saw a global threat in the Axis powers before Japan ever attacked us. Technically in the begining our only war was with Japan.

The US went to Vietnam and Korea to keep communism out of those countries, not because it was invading our shores. Not our place or our business, but that is another issue. The point is that allegances can mean aiding your allies in their homelands.

Im gonna agree with Korrd on this one, an alliance is whatever you make it.

I am sorry but I feel compelled to point out that Canada has no direct involvement in Iraq. If we did our primeimister would have had his head shoved on a pike. Right about the time the Iraq war started 70% of Canadians wanted to pull our troops out of Afghanistan. We can't leave now because we are the only ones holding the forth there now since most everybody else went to Iraq.

So to bring this thread back on course I am going to agree that not all alliances are willing.
