I agree with everything Kane just said. The only thing that should be able to kill a battleship by itself other than another cap-ship is the Rheinland bomber with novas and Tizonas with an ace pilot. Other than that you would need 2 or more fighters to take it out.
As an example if anyone has read star wars books it takes approximately 20 proton torpedoes to take down a Star Destroyers shield. then it would take another 28-35 to cripple the ship. The star destroyer would be like the RH BS, and the proton torps would be like the Sunslayer torps. Given that novas do about 5 times more than sunslayers we should need about 4 to take down a shield and six to seven to take down its hull and this is without armor upgrades. To take down a battleship that has armor upgrade of VII a fighter should need 30-40 novas in total to kill it if it also has shield/nano-bots.
Also about the Outcasts and Corsairs disrupting your engines is normal. Those two factions are supposed to be the most elite pilots in the galaxy, and have the best weaponry. I agree with Igiss' plan to give them hornets. A person's last resort is to run not to turn and fight. You fight first then run.
