The solution here is to encourage people to explore and experience interesting areas and factions they haven't before. With a little hope, they should form more roleplay than simple "2milordie", "dropcargoordie", "engaging" stereotypes.
This is unlikely to happen though.
It can also be why people think people are roleplaying their fantasies.

As for Freelancer. It's bland - it's more than bland.
It's outright boring.
And when you try to make it interesting, at the very least for yourself? You get hated on. A lot. Not to mention the angry Skype crap you'll receive from certain people *cough* that are supposed to be -preventing- such behaviour.
