The Nomads have it because they're a more advanced race, and there's a nice bit of FL-Psuedo-science behind it. It's really just their method of communication and tools for surviving and prospering in space.
Humans are a little too simple to pull something like that off believably, you'd be toying with the 'force' which is more in the science fantasy genre.
The best thing to remember is weaknesses, if your character is boosted in one area, an equally rated 'nerf' of sorts to make them believable is nice. Like a mental illness or disability not crazy, but OCD, mute, blind etc.
