Freighters, they are the backbone of a nation. They can perform any task, are the platforms needed to take the big leap from a civillian ship to a large trade and commerce vessel. They are agile (relatively) and fast.... BUT in my opinion they have a fatal flaw.

YES freighters can be potetially awesome vessels of destruction, like the Corsair Correro or the Rogue Bactarian. Or hopelessly weak as the Bretonian Clydesdale and the X-wing...

Freighters, well they used to be more popular, now their almost died out. Personally i find the Camara a brilliant vessel. Lots of cargo compared to price, slim profile and decent agility. It has quite a punch to it if outfitted correctly, but still its weak.

Therefor i propose that all freighters get a buff.

The first issue i see is; huge shield but a bomber worth of shield batteries... often quite thick hull too but yet fighter/bombers have same amount of B/B.... Freighters should get some more, maybe an average of 20 more b/b (except repair ship ofcourse).

Anything LESS then 800 cargo is a freighter, so states the definition of the shipclass. Yet the biggest freighter cargohold is the dromedary with its 650 units... Shouldnt atleast a couple of them have like, 800 or 750 units of cargo?

Freighters are awesome when it comes to firepower, but their kinda doomed when it comes to defence.... a few exceptions can be found, but with a maximum of 20000 hull, whereas the weakest transport is 40000, and that transport doesnt even have 800 cargo.... They should get some more armour. A freighter as of now is a VHF with a heavy cargopod when it comes to stats and such....

Freighters has some imbalances too, like one or two can mount a razor, alot if not most can mount a CD. Then theres a few like camara, mule, rhino and garanchou who dont have a CD.... why? if like 80% of the freighters has one, why should a few ones lose the CD? Especially when its no solid reason behind it.


Freighter powercores are nice though and their shields are generous.... Agility vise their fine, i mean, their not meant to fight (for the most part), but meant to haul small ammounts of cargo at shorter distances...


In a sense, freighters are, to a degree, forgotten. Some are really expensive, like the dromedary. some are really really cheap like the garanchou.... just because they dont have 5k or more cargo doesnt mean their bad ships, but this seems to have been forgotten.
