All the lawful factions need to get off their high horse,and stop banning every dam ship/ID/comodity from their systems. Right now i would pity any new/newish player. They would need to read for 24 hours plus to try and figure half the stupid laws,and deplomatic crap the "Official" factions are spewing around. At present their is no trading,just smuggling cause no matter what is in your cargo? someone will yell ilegal/smuggler,or imbargo breaker.
This is just 1 of the many reasons i am no longer playing here.

I have a fairly long list of trade routes I use that comply with all local regulations and are perfectly legal, several of which are quite profitable.

Speaking from the perspective of Liberty, since that's what I'm most familiar with:
Even if a new player has never looked at the laws, the stuff that's illegal is pretty darn obvious. Commodities:

Cardamine
Liquid Cardamine
Counterfeit Software
Black Market Munitions
Human Organs
Synthetic Marijuana
Artifacts
Slaves
Blood Diamonds
Nomad brains

Of these, all of them with the possible exception of Nomad brains (which aren't an issue for new players) simply scream illegal, many of them just in their name alone (black market, counterfeit, etc). No issues here--moving on.

Ships:

Rheinland ships (e.g. Wraith).
Rheinland criminal ships (e.g. Arbeiter).
Outcast ships (e.g. Tridente).
Corsair ships (e.g. Gladiator).
Pirate ships (e.g. Barghest).
Lane Hacker ships (e.g. Bayonet).
Order ships (e.g. Nephthys).
Nomad ships.
GRN ships.

WHOA YOU CAN'T HAVE CRIMINAL SHIPS OR RHEINLAND SHIPS IN LIBERTY NO WAY.

Again, ridiculously obvious.

Or how about "can't carry cargo across the border to Rheinland." What, we're at war with Rheinland and you don't want me supplying them with goods? That's crazy talk!

With the exception of Kusari, all of the major houses have relatively simple and logical laws for what's allowed and what's isn't. Kusari's rather more complicated, but if you spend a few more minutes figuring it out you're fine.

In the time it takes you to finish a single leg of a trade run, you can read up on all of the relevant laws for all the houses your route will be going through. If you want to not break the law, you should at least know the law.

Oh, and if you haven't read the laws? Don't try to tell a police officer what's legal or not, because the odds are that you're wrong. I'll be a lot more lenient on people who just say "Sorry, I didn't know" than people who try to argue with me and tell me that their Pirate freighter is legal.
